so met up with the girls after work. mine is just a less than 15mins walk to marina square. went sakae for dinner then changing appetitte for dessert. just chatted the time away. there's so many to say, ask n share.

the one memory that has the deepest impression was when we went to the bbq at sembawang. though we may not have any pix of that time, some of the scenes remain intact. so i'm quite looking forward to the bbq or chalet next month which is just 5 weeks away. it was something that was on our mouth but due to time constraints, it has been put aside n replace by more realisable events.

then on the 23rd may, will be the grad ceremony. i'll miss some of the wonderful time spent there. oral comm lesson, tep n etc. ha, of coz my dear friends. how we went to fly kite..

hmm... five of work.. this is the 2nd week and the time spent in the office was quite fulfilling. last week I was tasked to do accounting and compilation(auditing) for a less than 5 million turnover company. Forget what was accurals and it was very funny when the person explained those things until so easy. Managed to balance all the necessary things so halfway doing compilation which include those audit working papers and financial statements. Still in the tax portion. Coz mine is a small company so everything quite straight forward. if not, in those big four, wait long long then they will ask u to do that section. Then put that aside coz I need to do data entry for a clinic to disclose the gst. 3 months of receipts and were very messy. Should be able to finish by tmr. Then duno whether I will carry on with it. If not can go back to my first company.

on wed, took leave to go check-up. slept till i'm comfortable then did some stuff and off i went to the gym. had the best run that day. enough things to make me happy that day.

Treat

My mentor gathered a group of people and gave me and another intern a farewell treat. It was really nice of her. We had dim sum. Since I was nursing a sore throat and have been feeling sick these few days, I totally have no appettite. This is despite her asking me to eat and wanting me to order more. The food was delicious.

We had a chat along the way back and ya, that y I felt fortunate to have such a good mentor since the start of the attachment. :)

Ever since I was taught on tax computation last wed, each day seems good. At least, I go to the office each day knowing there are tasks for me to accomplish.

Today another senior wanted me to work on P&L, i heard some asked: "eh, thought the interns will not be taught on such things?"

Then I realised it was my mentor who recommeded that senior to let me work on the P&L, in order to prepare for other tax computation. My mentor then suddenly asked in concern, "You know how to do right?" and added, "Don't throw my face ar." I like this mentor of mine. She is definitely nice to get along. So patient with me. She trusts me and will try to keep me occupied with work and let me learn if she can.

Usually, interns working for less that 3 months will not be taught much. That what I have heard from others in the company. Thus, I am considered quite lucky to learn. My interest in tax was not much during the tax lessons. Now after knowing how to apply what I have learnt, I feel good. My interest is also getting stronger.

Hopefully, I will be able to walk through the whole process of computing the tax during the remainding 8 weeks.

Am enjoying my attachment now. Even though the learning stage is tough, it is rewarding when I manage to clear each hurdle at a time. Just completed a P&L computation today. It is very time consuming. Maybe I am slow and inexperienced. Coz I really could not reconcile those figures with the audit report. Somemore I still have to refer to several other reports if I am in doubt. Tomorrow also going to concentrate on this task. Think my mentor is thinking of teaching me to compute the whole tax computation. It is not easy. However, I am still looking forward to the process.

Well, one week of attachment passed. I am in the tax department while the others go to the audit department. Luckily, I have another SP intern to accompany me. Work is still all right. However, it seems that doing OT is a norm at my side. Well, till now, I have not do much OT and hopefully will not have to do any in the remaining 10 weeks.

I am tired.

Got posted to KPMG. One of the Big Four accounting firm. Anyway, was quite fated with this company. A few of my friends also got posted there. Some also quite near to Raffles, like City Hall and Tanjong Pagar.
